2008

Originally from the East Coast (New York), Nichole enrolled in the College
of Engineering at USF (Tampa). After realizing a more creative outlet
was needed, she later attended Full Sail for both the Recording Arts
and Digital Media degree programs in 1999 and 2000. Awards at Full
Sail included Course Director’s Awards for Web Design and Digital Media
Assembly, as well as the Advanced Achievement Award for both Recording
Arts and Digital Media. A few years after graduating, Nichole returned to
Full Sail, but on the other side of the fence, as a lab instructor for both
MIDI and Web Design classes.

Nichole’s broad range of work experience includes CD-ROM design/production, video production, web design/production, interactive design, sound design/editing and creative direction. She has lived in a number of US cities to gain such a diverse work experience, including Orlando, San Francisco, New York City, Boston and Los Angeles. “I’ve painfully realized over the years that I’m more fulfilled by having a lot of things to work on, even though at times it has been tremendously challenging. With technology always moving forward, and the super talented people around me, there is no way to be bored!”

As Sparatik, her 10 + years experience as a DJ includes a variety of clubs and underground parties around the US, as well as Tokyo. Vinyl is the chosen format, although Sparatik is currently working to include more original music in her sets. Collaborating with talented musician friends is top on her list of priorities. As a DJ, musical tastes have included drum n bass, tech step, techno-infused funky house, deep house, and funky minimal. Now the main flavor is classic, chunky, bumpin’ disco-infused house, tailored specifically to each situation.

What’s the story now? Currently living in Los Angeles, Nichole fills in pockets of time working as an Independent Media Specialist, an instructor for SAE Institute of Technology and as a DJ. Classes taught at SAE include basic and advanced Photoshop, Multimedia and Internet, Intro to MIDI, Intro to Reason and Intro to Live.

What does the future hold? “That’s an impossible question, but most likely it will involve turntables, a powerbook, some excellent music, a variety of multimedia software, some cool synths and outboard gear, a plethora of Pumas (depending on my mood) and some damn good coffee!”
